2011 Workshop Information

Gregg Russell Studio is pleased to present a plein air painting workshop June 24, 25, & 26.  This workshop will focus on the fundamentals of plein air landscape painting.

Class will consist of a lecture time were the fundamentals of plein air painting will be discussed.  Students will study and learn from past and present plein air masters.  Gregg will do daily demonstrations putting the fundamentals in practice.  Then much of the time will be spent painting the landscape outdoors in plein air.  Class size is limited to create an intimate atmosphere.  A lot of time will be given over to individual student’s needs and questions. 

Class will run from 9 am- 4 pm Friday & Saturday, 10 am – 2 pm on Sunday.  The workshop will be held on the property of Camille Beckman, 179 Rosebud Ln. Eagle

Portable Easel/ French Easel (able to do outdoor painting)

Oil paints

Portable Palette  (prefer non-paper)
Brushes size 4-12 (filberts or brights)
Paint Thinner/mineral spirits (none smell kind is best)
 Paper Towels
Palette knife (any style)
Hat
Clothes ( neutral colors work best ex. Grays, browns,
Drawing tablet
Pencils
Notepad
Bug spray
Sunscreen
Water
6- 10 Canvases and/or canvas panels  in sizes 6 x 8 inches, 8 x 10 inches, 9 x 12 inches, or 11 x 14 inches (please nothing larger than 11 x 14 unless you are a very experienced painter)
Wet Canvas carrier (optional)
