Russell paints and lives with his wife Aimee, & daughter in Meridian, ID.
Later, Russell began to express that sentiment through art. His love for the outdoors lead to the discovery of "en plein air" painting. Russell has been influenced by many of today's plein air masters such as Scott Christensen, Ovanes Berberian, Robert Moore, Gregory Packard, and Kathryn Stats. These influences along with hours of painting have lead to many successes. Gregg's work hangs in private collections throughout the United States. In 2005 he was awarded the Stanley R & Robert E. Wright Foundation Scholarship to study at the Scottsdale Artist School. He has participated in several national juried shows including the American Impressionist Society's National Juried Show and the Scottsdale Artist Schools' Best and Brightest. Gregg most recently was selected as the 2007 Idaho Paints Idaho Grand Prize Winner for his painting "Weiser River Winter" sponsored by The Easter Idaho Art Museum. His work also hangs in the Permanet Collection at the Eastern Idaho Art Museum in Idaho Falls, Idaho.
Gregg Russell was born in Upland, CA in 1977. A year later, he moved to Idaho and began a long love affair with the majestic Idaho landscape. As a boy, Russell roamed the hills of Idaho hunting and fishing. He credits his father for exposing him to Idaho's beauty.
